Discovering the exact date when Adam was created has seen a conflicting assortment of claims and counterclaims. The 1911 Catholic Encyclopedia states that there are over 200 attempts to set a date.1 By 1830, Rev. William Hales compiled a list of 120 dates from various sources that attempted to work out a chronology of biblical dates.2 The dates chosen range from long dates 6984 BC and 6484 BC by Alfonso X of Spain working in the 1200s, to the earliest date of 3616 BC by Rabbi Lipman working in the 17th century.
